Yup. We did this. Us, apparently. All 800,000 of us.
SEGA just won’t cut the garbage with their hero Sonic the Hedgehog. Remember how you bought Sonic Unleashed, and hated it? Well, in buying Sonic Unleashed, you added your name to a list of over 800,000 people who bought the game. SEGA liked those numbers. Thus, Sonic Unleashed 2 is born.
“You have the animated Sonic series that is intended for younger kids, and I personally like to look at those kids as our most important audience,” Sonic director Tetsu Katano said in an interview. “That said, we’re trying to make games which appeal to all generations.”
HOLD ON! DO NOT THROW YOUR COMPUTER UPON READING THAT. I have more. SEGA themselves do not see old fans as the fanbase anymore, as proven by that. I’ve gone quite a while thinking that kids 2 feet tall were, but I was wrong. Sonic has no fanbase in our days, he just has sales numbers. SEGA spits something out, and if it sells, it’s good material. Do they really care that “The only thing that should top a sonic game is a Boss Battle…. [and] a trip to the bathroom.” As said on IGN.
“In principle, I think that the users are always right. They’re the ones paying the money and playing the games,” he said. “So if the users are always right, why not ditch the ~ Werehog? “I don’t think that producing the Werehog was a mistake per se, but there were a lot of things we could have done better if we had more time and resources.”
I like this guy. Unfortunetly, that is not true. Apparently, the fans are not always right. Sonic Heroes was utterly fail, and sent Sonic spirally downward after such huge success after Sonic Adventure 2, with both the fans and the sales. We bough Sonic Heroes, Sonic 360, and Sonic Unleashed. WE the people did this. Sort of. But apparently, we are the only ones who can fix this. Thanks SEGA. Now, please, I ask you one thing-
When Sonic Unleash 2 comes out, pretend it didn’t.
